Clearing Around Marble Falls

Half-acre pond construction on a Lampasas, TX ranch by Texas Grading

A lot of the clearing around Marble Falls is about views. Lots cut into hillsides above the lakes where cedar has grown up and closed off what people bought the place for. That work is selective by nature, opening corridors while leaving screening and keeping the oaks.

The ground makes it harder than it sounds. Granite close to the surface means a dozer cannot always grub roots out, and steep slopes limit what can safely be worked. Excavators do a lot of the fine work here for exactly that reason.

Erosion is the thing to think about on these slopes. Bare ground above a lake in a hard rain moves, and it takes your topsoil with it. Where we clear steep ground we either leave more cover or mulch and leave the material down to hold soil until grass takes.

Oak wilt is a live risk in Burnet County. Where oaks are being cut we prefer to work outside the February to June window and we paint fresh wounds regardless.

Prepare Your Property with Land Clearing Services

Our land clearing work removes unwanted growth and obstacles, creating a clean foundation for your next project.

Forestry Mulching

Mulching runs under Pierce Land Clearing, our parent company. The material stays on the ground and decomposes rather than needing burning or hauling.

Cedar, Mesquite and Brush

Taken out with dozers and excavators and grubbed at the root, which is what keeps it from coming back.

Homesite Clearing

A building site opened up and cleared, ready for a pad, a drive and whatever comes after.

Selective Clearing

Working around the hardwoods worth saving and removing the rest. Takes longer and looks far better when it is done.

Fence Lines and Access Routes

Fence lines cleared for maintenance, and access cut into parts of the property that were unreachable.

Our Step-by-Step Land Clearing Approach

We Walk It

We look at what is out there, how thick it is, what you want kept and whether equipment can reach it.

Elevation analysis step icon

Push, Mulch or Both

Thick cedar usually gets pushed. Rocky or steep ground usually gets mulched. Most places get some of each.

Rough grading step icon

We Clear It

Dozers and excavators, grubbing roots out rather than cutting at the surface so it does not come back.

Final leveling step icon

We Walk It Again

Before the equipment leaves we go over the cleared ground with you and deal with whatever got missed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you open up a view without stripping the lot?

Yes, and that is most of what we do here. Selective clearing takes out what is blocking the view and leaves the trees worth keeping.

It can if you strip it. We leave cover on steep ground or mulch and leave the material down until grass comes back.

It limits how much we can grub. Roots in solid rock cannot be pushed out. We use excavators more and mulching where pushing is not practical.

A lot of acreage here came out of platted developments with rules about tree removal. Read yours before you commit to clearing.
